TEN MILE YEARNING Ten mile yearning A lesson Iʼm still learning Another page in need of turning On the road away from you Stepped out on the highway I know your coming my way Hope she stops to find me On the road away from you Ten mile yearning These silver bits Iʼm earning Donʼt stop the fire burning I'd still walk the earth for you Star-studded highway Thereʼs no one going my way I struggle every damn day To find a way back to you This lifeʼs a lonesome freeway Every man looks for a keepsake Every man tries to hold onto The little luck heʼs had... The little love heʼs had Ten mile yearning A lesson Iʼm still learning Another page in need of turning On the road away from you Stepped out by the highway I know your coming my way Hope she stops to find me On the road away from you

CIRCUS BIRD Out on the road, been gone for days now Still bleary-eyed from our last showdown Vision of you, crawling from my arms Out on the road, been gone for days now There in a life I left behind me She comes to my room but cannot find me Abandoned love, I can feel her every curse There in a life I left behind me Side shows lure us more than main attractions This world donʼt offer much distraction Oh, circus bird, redemption in your cage It lures me more than their attractions Out on the road, been gone for days now Vision so clear, itʼs all in place now Oh, circus bird... Iʼm coming home to you Out on the road, been gone for days now

ANCHOR'S WEIGHT Draw the ropes together, another anchorʼs weight Fastens us to the ocean floor and seals this vesselʼs fate Scrape along the bottom to find a catch to hold Stir the silt that murks the view, and watch the mission fold Now I donʼt know where we went wrong, But I sure know where these things belong Whitewashed by the excess of another anchorʼs weight Swallowing your anger with another Captain straight Never sought to navigate beyond your wreckless fate Revel in your denial as you damn the ones you hate Now I donʼt know where we went wrong, But I sure know where these things belong

ALBUM NOTES FOR "CAPSULE":

The Rivergods are a Connecticut band that continues to build strong audience support with their unique brand of acoustic folk music. "Capsule" is The Rivergods debut effort, with all of the tracks recorded at The Coffeehouse in Middletown, CT. The band features singer/songwriter Benjamin Parent on vocals and guitars, Nancy Brossard on vocals, pedal steel, and guitar, Amanda Just on viola, and Jim Gannotti on bass, with drummer Rahn Lawson providing percussion duties. Their music captures the influences of folk, rock, and country music blended together to create a refreshing variety of sounds. The result is nine catchy original tracks that provide the audience with music that is diverse and enjoyable to listen to.

Recorded with the "live in the studio" feel, The Rivergods insure that each aspect of their sound gets an opportunity. The band's true sound is displayed on "Ten Mile Yearning", which features the ladies' terrific pedal steel and viola rhythm. New Haven slide guitarist, Don Phee, makes a guest appearance on the energetic track "Circus Bird", a surviving track from prior Rivergods musical projects. The track arrangement is well thought, with the diverse styles and sounds keeping the listener interested throughout. From the Celtic-sounding arrangement on "Anchor's Weight" to the rockabilly "T.D.W. (Truck Driving Woman)", the Rivergods deliver a variety of emotions with an intimate English Pub-like feel.

The Rivergods sound is difficult to pinpoint, ranging from the acoustic Grateful Dead to early Eagles. The arrangements are both masterful and creative. I look forward to the opportunity to see this band live. For more information on the band, check out their website at www.therivergods.com and keep an eye open for local live performances.
